From the creative genius of James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole, who is one of the few American sushi masters, is this hip locale in Downtown Scottsdale. The destination offers non-traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and a seasonal omakase.

Kodo Sushi Sake/Kodo Sushi Bar
This casual restaurant, located in the Scottsdale Airpark, is so popular that the owners recently opened a second location near Mayo Boulevard and the Loop 101. Here you’ll not only find everything from traditional options to popular Ahi Tower to the OMG Roll—shrimp tempura, avocado, and crab salad topped with shrimp, eel, spicy mayo, eel sauce, and tobiko and lit on fire. The top sushi locale is also known for its purple rice.

Khao Thai and Sushi
Tucked in a shopping center in East Scottsdale, this unassuming locale serves up the best sushi creations. A popular Scottsdale sushi and happy hour spot. Find an extensive list of rolls, specialty rolls, sashimi, and mini hand rolls. Options range from traditional to the Chimichanga (spicy krab mix, avocado, and krab stick, tempura battered and topped with sriracha, spicy mayo, eel sauce, and scallions). Sushi Brokers happy hour runs from both 3 to 6:30 p.m. daily, as well as 10 p.m. to close Monday through Saturday.

If you’re looking for sushi served in a hip locale with an energetic vibe, this Scottsdale sushi restaurant fits the bill. Along with sashimi and nigiri, there’s an extensive list of specialty rolls. They range from the Adults Only Roll (smoked salmon, krab, avocado, cream cheese and spicy mayo, topped with tobiko, seaweed salad and red tempura bits, served on a flaming hot plate) to the Lobster Filet Mignon Roll (lobster tempura and avocado, topped with seared filet mignon, creamy wasabi sauce, green onions and red bell peppers, served with lobster tempura over fried zucchini and ginger teriyaki sauce). This is just one of the worldwide locales of famed Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s restaurants (which he co-owns with actor Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper). Like all Nobu locations, this upscale Scottsdale locale offers ambiance and top-notch offerings. There’s a range of sushi options, as well as Nobu’s signature omakase tasting menu. Rolls range from the traditional to a yellowtail jalapeño. Open for dinner and Tonoshi Hour (happy hour bar/lounge only).
