Cosanti Originals – Ceramic Planter Making

Cosanti Originals is kicking off 2026 with a calendar full of interactive hands-on experiences, including the new Slip Casting 2 course, which teaches participants how to cast a ceramic planter. This engaging workshop takes place on Friday, Jan. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon.

During the course, guests will pour their own liquid clay into plaster molds and try their hand at decorating its surface with carvings in the tradition of Cosanti artisans. Schedule is as follows:

• 9-9:15 a.m.: Sign-in and orientation
• 9:15-10 a.m.: Guided tour of Cosanti
• 10-10:30 a.m.: Casting and carving demonstration
• 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Designing and carving planters
• 11:30 a.m.-noon: Photos and course conclusion

This experience is designed for participants ages 10 and up and all skill levels. Materials and techniques will be demonstrated throughout the course. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, washable clothing and walking shoes — and prepare to get messy!
