Where else to kick off an Arabian horse circuit featuring million-dollar Arabian horses competing for $2.7 million in prize money than Scottsdale, which is known for its horse competitions?
When looking for the perfect city to launch the initial Global Champions Arabians Tour‘s (GCAT) Americas Circuit Today, the team behind the event knew Scottsdale was the perfect locale, also choosing to hold it during the iconic Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
“What better place to launch a signature Arabian Horse competition than Scottsdale with its rich tradition in Arabian horsemanship,” says Cindy McGown, CEO of GCAT Americas. “It’s an opportunity to view potential world champions in an exciting competition that will attract diehard fans and those new to Arabian competitions.”
The event—for which general admission is free to attend—began on Tues., Feb. 18 at WestWorld of Scottsdale and runs through Thurs., Feb. 20.
The Americas Circuit features some of the finest Arabian horses in North and South America, with the horses being judged based on type, head and neck, body, legs, and movement.
On the final evening of the competition, there will also be a additional entertainment—including Native American hoop dancers, a mariachi band, folklorico dancers, a live DJ, a laser light show, and more.
Scottsdale is the first leg of the America’s Circuit in the Global Champions Arabians Tour, with competitions also taking place in Miami Beach, São Paulo, Brazil, Brandon Manitoba, Canada, with the finals in Las Vegas for $2.7 million in total prize money. The champions from the Americas Circuit will then compete with horses worldwide at the World Arabian Horse Championship Supreme, set to take place in Doha, Qatar, next December. The total prize money in that competition is 4 million Euros ($4.1 million).
