Jamie Lynn Spears is a bright new talent at Country Thunder by Admin Some fans may know Jamie Lynn Spears from her many seasons as the sassy and sensible lead character on Disney Channel’s “Zoey 101” and others may know her for being the kid sister of Britney Spears. But make no mistake about it, Jamie Lynn Spears is re-creating herself after taking a hiatus to raise her child. Ms. Spears has delved into the world of country music with a sound and attitude that is perfectly suited for the genre. She will next be appearing at Country Thunder and the country music festival welcomes her as one of its newest and brightest talents. “I’m really excited to be a part of this,” gushes Spears. “As a child, everyone knows I did a tv show and that was a really fun experience as a kid,” Spears explains. She thinks it was a great way for her to channel her creative energies, but she doesn’t feel that at the time, and being 12 years old, she was ready to commit to acting for the rest of her life. “I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and I was very young and at that point I had already worked since I was 9 ½. I figured after I had my daughter it was really time for me to really step back and figure out what my next steps were going to be as a mother, as a women and what kind of a future I wanted to set up for my daughter,” Spears explains. “I wanted to make sure that I created a life that was something that was stable and that I could do to provide for my daughter. That’s when I started writing.” “I’ve always loved music and it’s always been a big part of my life,” adds Spears. When her daughter was one year old, Spears relocated to Nashville and dedicated herself to writing and music. “I just kept writing and focusing on the craft, taking guitar lessons and singing lessons and all of that. People are asking, ‘What have you been doing all these years?’ I was growing up, I was being a mother and also really preparing myself to do this. Finally about a year ago, I was ready to release my first song and I just did it very organically and very independently. Now I’m here and working on my next steps as far as creating new music and the next stage of it all.” Spears’ new EP “The Journey” is a highly personal reflection of what has been going on in her life in the last few years. “I’ve been writing for years and doing it as an everyday job. I have so many songs that are in my catalog, it came time to really dig in and see which ones to take into the studio.” She narrowed down the songs she wanted to include on her EP and hit the studio. “It was an emotional process,” explains Spears. “It was weird. You’re digging up old emotions… It was one of those things that it was really special because it was me taking the next step in my life.” Jamie Lynn Spears sing, “How Could I Want More” is her first single off of her EP. Spears is excited to be a part of Country Thunder. “Last time was the first time really diving in and doing the festival rounds where it’s every weekend there’s a festival to play,” says Spears. “It was such a different experience for me, but it was really cool. It was really cool how all the artists were kind of making a pit stop at every festival. So I was able to be part of really great festival and meet some really cool people and watch some other amazing artists play.” Visit www.jamielynnspears.com for additional artist information.
