The Scott Resort & Spa Feb 20th, 2017 by Lynette Carrington The Scott Resort & SpaMajor Rebrand and Remodel in the WorksFiresky Resort & Spa is evolving, and the plans are nothing short of entirely impressive. Classic Hotels & Resorts, a leading hospitality development and management company based in Phoenix, is rebranding and has renamed the Firesky Resort & Spa, a boutique property the company acquired in April 2016. The 204-room resort, located in Old Town Scottsdale, is now The Scott Resort & Spa. Recently, Scottsdale.com sat down with The Scott’s General Manager, Robert Reeves to learn about the exciting changes coming to the iconic Scottsdale property. The Scott is eager to embrace the wide variety of guests and potential guests, including business travelers, couples, families and especially, groups. “We are looking to do about 23,000 group room nights this year and over five years, we’d like to grow that to 29-30,000 group room nights, on an average,” says Reeves. The property has been a resort for 55 years, and its newest incarnation sounds to be like the most beautiful and functional, yet!New RoomsOver the next two years, major renovations will take place with the lobby, all the guest rooms, and some of the outdoor spaces. Reeves explains, “The first step is model rooms. We start model room construction in a couple of months.” There are 204 rooms that will get an entirely new look which Reeves describes as “Havana Front Porch,” a lush a beautiful theme that will be carried across the property. Indeed, stepping beyond the expansive lobby reveals a lush, tropical wonderland that one can envision exactly the look that will be The Scott upon remodel. There will be three model rooms constructed – a queen, a king and a parlor. “One of the things we are going to incorporate into the parlor that we don’t currently have is a Murphy bed. We want to be able to create functional space beyond a guest room,” Reeves explains. “The design and the furniture will be set up so you can actually, as much as possible, do three different configurations in the room.” Potentially, the bedroom could also be used as a conference room or as a hospitality room, making it a wonderful and convenient choice for a variety of business and group travelers. It’s simply hard to believe that such a relaxing and beautiful space is just steps away from Scottsdale Road and mere minutes away from the exciting shopping and dining opportunities of Scottsdale Fashion Square and Old Town Scottsdale. The Scott is a lifestyle hotel, and lifestyle hotels have a strong connection to their surrounding community. The Scott will fit right in to the mix of all the excitement in the area.Meeting space at The Scott currently includes 14,000 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor space. “The existing footprint is not going to change,” explains Reeves.”What will happen in our existing meeting rooms is a soft goods refresh and IT enhancements – fresh carpet, fresh paint, new lighting fixtures, new air walls and new finishes on the air walls to improve sound travel.” Food and BeverageThe Scott will be evolving its food and beverage program, too. With Firesky Resort & Spa, both the previous resort and restaurant, Taggia, were owned by Kimpton. “The current restaurant is The Scott Grill,” says Reeves. “The three-meal-a-day restaurant is going for a full concept rebranding and that’s what we’re working through, at this point.” The restaurant is currently open and serving American cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. It is anticipated that upon completion of the rebranding, the name of the restaurant will change to reflect the cuisine. An Urban OasisReeves points out that the property is ripe for an enhancement and since he’s had a wealth of experience in the resort rebranding/remodeling process, he is enthusiastic to paint the future picture of The Scott as people visit the resort. “You’ve got to keep up in the market,” Reeves acknowledges as he discusses the various resorts and renovations that have taken place recently. “There is a ton of potential and opportunity with this property!”Reeves says, “I think we strike a balance between two things. The location – you can come here, you can still get out very quickly and you can be in the middle of Downtown Scottsdale, and very close to spring training games and Camelback Mountain.” He additionally cites that the size of The Scott is conducive to productive group stays as the physical layout of the property lends itself to a more close-knit experience, versus one that takes place over many sprawling and laid-out buildings. The dual pools and lagoon area will still serve as a peaceful and picturesque oasis to guests who stay at The Scott.Signature spa, Jurlique will continue to operate at The Scott. Services include massage, facial services, waxing, make-up application, nail services, and other relaxing and pampering services. “May 29, 2017 is when we’ll break ground on the first significant piece of renovation,” says Reeves. The model rooms will be completed first, and most likely by the end of summer 2017, followed by the lobby, meeting rooms and public space.”As the lobby and rooms are being remodeled, the surrounding landscape will get a face lift, too. The grounds will go through a replant and some additional landscaping, plus a remodel of some of the outdoor common space that will specifically make it more accessible and flexible as event space.
