Step UP 4 KiDS Challenge to Take Place October 12-18

From October 12 to 18, local nonprofit Healthy LifeStars is hosting its first ever STEP UP 4 KiDS Challenge Week. The challenge requires participants to track their steps each day by simply using a pedometer or smartphone. Adults and children compete to take the most steps and, with the support of sponsors, raise awareness and funds for Healthy LifeStars to be offered at more schools and sites, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs (2) in Scottsdale. Professional golfer Tom Lehman and media personality Lin Sue Cooney are committed participants in this event.

Giving back is simple:

Register for STEP UP 4 KiDS at

Challenge others to STEP UP to the Challenge by joining a team or registering as an individual

Wear a pedometer throughout the week of October 12-18 and log your progress online

Encourage friends and family to sponsor your efforts

STEP UP 4 KiDS makes giving back fun for all involved. Not only can a friendly competition among friends, familyor coworkers benefit your own health, but it can also provide children in underserved neighborhoods with the proper health education they need through Healthy LifeStars’ partnership with public and private schools, The Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Clubs, and YMCA. The Healthy LifeStars program teaches children to adopt nutritious eating habits, stay active, and set healthy goals. To date, Healthy LifeStars has already served over 18,000 children and their families in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada. The program is already offered at two Boys & Girls Club locations in Scottsdale, so the impact this organization has is, and will hopefully continue to be, right in your backyard.

The weeklong challenge will culminate on October 21 with the End of Challenge Celebration at The Arizona Biltmore Golf Club. This event will have a private meet and greet, dinner, silent and live auctions, and activities for all attending. The Celebration will also feature Tom Lehman as Honorary Chair, Lin Sue Cooney as Master of Ceremonies, and Congresswoman Martha McSally as Honorary Champion. Visit to register or to purchase tickets for the celebration that will take place 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club.
