Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa Offers Array of Accommodations by Lynette Carrington Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa Offers Array of Stylish Accommodations with a Breathtaking Backdrop There’s a reason that Sedona is a highly coveted travel destination. Unrivaled scenic vistas, world-class accommodations, outstanding restaurants, unique shopping, distinctive galleries and engaging events all create the opportunity for once-in-a-lifetime experiences. During the recent Sedona International Film Festival, Scottsdale.com discovered the Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa and all that it offers to its guests. First opened in 2005, Sedona Rouge is nestled against a backdrop of gorgeous red rocks that provide many of the hotel’s rooms with exceptional views. After a $7 million renovation in 2016 that added more than 30 new rooms and suites, one of the most striking things about Sedona Rouge is the tasteful, elegant and worldly accommodation choices it offers. At the core of the stylish Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is a commitment to customer care. The staff is there at every turn to ensure that your stay is memorable and we simply loved that so many of them have been with the property for many years. We got the chance to interact with many of them during the film festival. Hundreds of people flock from around Arizona and the world to participate in one of the finest film festivals in the world, and Sedona Rouge was the hotel where the majority of the action was happening. The staff was always front and center for any request, consistently holding doors, answering questions, offering to carry baggage and equipment and always providing help in any way they could. It is a testament to the management and specifically, Director of Sales at Sedona Rouge, Daniel Carrillo, who was working all over the hotel in every capacity during the film festival. His natural charm and demeanor served him well in his leadership role. His enthusiasm and positivity permeated the entire staff. The RoomsEach room is appointed with extra touches designed to keep guests pampered and comfortable. Rooms at Sedona Rouge include conveniences such as Wi-Fi, a mini refrigerator, coffeemaker and stocked coffee bar, complimentary bottled water, a hairdryer, ironing board and iron, wonderful toiletries and a pair of plush bathrobes were a perfect and relaxing way to wind down a busy day. Additionally, we particularly loved the sweet touch of wrapped chocolate squares provided during the turndown service. You may also want to stop into the spa or front desk and purchase the bar soap that is provided in the rooms. It smells like lemon candy and is probably the most luxurious soap I’ve used in quite a long time. The hotel décor has pops of red throughout its rooms, gathering spaces and REDS restaurant. Interestingly, the furniture, art and fixtures have a decidedly global slant, with a Mediterranean influence, creating an eclectic, tasteful and inviting environment. I challenge you to find a hotel that has more beautiful dressers and side tables! Also, area rugs in select rooms at Sedona Rouge are from Azadi Fine Rugs in Tlaquepaque Arts & Craft Village, one of the prestigious shopping destinations in Sedona. There are eight different styles of guest rooms, so no matter how you enjoy your travel and living space, the hotel has an accommodation that will fit your style. Our room was the Deluxe Sedona with two queen beds, a dresser, work desk, closet, and a comfortable chair and ottoman. This particular style of room boasted lots of space, and certainly more so than your average hotel room. The spacious and open bathroom was also a welcome departure from what you might normally expect. I particularly liked the outside balcony that gave views of the majestic red rocks for which Sedona is so famous. Considering the hotel was nearly at capacity, our room was incredibly quiet, both day and night. Although we didn’t utilize room service, on-site REDS restaurant does have delicious in-room noshes for a good portion of the day and into the evening.Another stellar accommodation is a room style built in a 2016 renovation at Sedona Rouge that included the addition of 30 rooms. The Almeria one and two-bedroom suite rooms combine tasteful and luxurious accommodations with privacy, convenience and living space flexibility. The spacious bedroom includes a chic and stylish inset vertical gas fireplace, a large dresser, flat panel TV, roomy wardrobe armoire and large chair and table. A separate seating and living room adjacent to the bedroom boasts a microwave, small refrigerator, kitchen counter and sink – perfect for food preparation or serving cocktails. In the living room, there are several comfortable chairs, a coffee table and a petite round dining table perched next to the window. There is also a large Murphy bed tucked into the wall that makes additional sleeping space a snap for families, bridal guests or larger parties. Additionally, guests in the Almeria rooms will enjoy expansive patio space with furniture. The bathroom includes plenty of space to get ready for your next adventure, plus a large tub and beautiful lighting and amenities. The one-bedroom Almeria suite room can also be connected to a second bedroom, creating a two-bedroom suite. Talk about staying in style! Many rooms at Sedona Rouge are ADA accessible, providing luxury, accommodating style. We particularly loved the roof terrace at Sedona Rouge. In addition to the fantastic red rock views, there is a lot of space to socialize, enjoy a cocktail under the stars, or throw a party. Although we didn’t have time to go swimming, there is a generously sized ADA compliant pool and a spa.REDS Restaurant at Sedona Rouge Hotel & SpaREDS is the signature restaurant at Sedona Rouge. Executive Chef, Shawn Murphy is steadily evolving the menu to include a larger variety of organic foods and local products. Murphy says, “I’m originally from California, where ‘farm-to-table’ was more popular and that is what I’m creating here.” Indeed, the full breakfast, small plates, lunch and dinner menus at Sedona Rouge impress with each dish. Murphy also explained that the REDS menu isn’t necessarily any specific culinary style, rather it reflects global influences and a wide variety of flavors. To kick off our meal, we received a basket of sunflower and pumpkin seed bread with butter and a slightly sweet prickly pear butter that was just outstanding. Chef Murphy then brought out one of his latest creations – a gorgeous hummus made with beets and served with thinly sliced cucumbers. The result is as gorgeous as it is tasty! Next we noshed on the cavatappi skillet – a lively macaroni and cheese interpretation that included Vermont aged cheddar, diced ham and a smattering of roasted jalapenos for an extra kick of spice. The appetizer is cooked in a cast iron skillet and baked until bubbling in the pizza oven. My main entrée was a fabulous pork chop topped with an onion compote, and Chef Murphy made it even more tasty by including a tomato jam and an apple salsa that served as a perfect spread/accompaniment for the chop, on the side. The side dish was a generous collection of baby Brussels sprouts and thinly sliced baby red potatoes. My guest had a wild mushroom and organic spinach stuffed chicken breast topped with a mild green tomatillo sauce, with jasmine rice and baby squash and carrots. This entrée was particularly tasty and beautiful, incorporating a variety of flavors and colors.Desserts are also something especially decadent at Reds. We finished off our meal with a New York style cheesecake with macerated berries and whipped cream. Another stand-out dessert on the menu is the banana crepe created from a vanilla crepe and coconut mousse, chocolate with bruleed banana and toasted orange sauce. The Spa at Sedona RougeThe spa at Sedona Rouge is the perfect place to get away from it all. Not only is the spa located in its own building, but there are also several spa guest rooms that offer that additional level of peace, quiet and relaxation, plus a step-in Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The spa carries a variety of signature pampering items including the fabulous lemon bar soap that is in every room. Some of the many spa services offered include custom massage and bodywork, such as reiki and reflexology, specialty bodywork like Thai massage, cupping massage and myofascial bodywork, a variety of facials, lash and brow tinting and professional waxing. If you’re visiting Sedona Rouge with a special someone, there are even couples’ massage treatments and a more personalized “Twin Flames” treatment that includes a relaxing massage, flickering candles and scented rose petals followed by a private, candle-lit bath for two. The spa is also the perfect spot for brides and bridesmaid parties to get pampered and styled before the big day. In fact, the scenic gardens area provides the most picturesque spot to have a wedding ceremony or reception against the majestic backdrop of Sedona’s famous red rocks. Carillo explained, “The spa, restaurant and hotel are designed to create a ‘grand trio’ experience for guests.” Indeed, once you are at Sedona Rouge, everything you need to enjoy your stay and relax is right in front of you. Do you need a suggestion for where to shop? Do you need to book a scenic Pink Jeeps tour? Or maybe you just would like to order an in-room meal and enjoy a movie. The staff will bend over backwards to accommodate your requests and will do so with meaningful and genuine hospitality. Sedona Rouge and REDS Restaurant are located at 2250 W.
