Phoenician Spa by Dena Roché In 2018 the Phoenician took spa to a new level with the unveiling of a stunning three-story, 40,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to wellness. The spa is expansive and done in muted tranquil tones that help you start to relax the moment you arrive at reception. Inside the locker rooms my favorite touch is the hot tub with views of iconic Camelback Mountain. There is also a hydrotherapy circuit inviting you to move from sauna, steam, cool Finnish shower, and the hot tub.The rooftop pool is a do not miss part of your spa day with incredible views of Camelback mountain and the entire resort. Cabana rentals are available. The relaxation room is the perfect place to chill out before and after treatments on chaise loungers. The two-sided fireplace is a cozy touch during the winter months. During my day at the spa, I try the signature Aroma Design service. It starts with meeting my provider at the blending bar inside the retail shop. Using Sedona based Body Bliss products I create a custom oil blend to use during my massage. To help me know what scents to blend, I get an iPad loaded with recipes that are based on the numerology of my birthday, or specific states I’d like to have more of in my life from peace and calm to love. Once we have the blend made, it’s time for a 50-minute custom massage. For a more unique service, the signature Harmonic Bowl Healing uses singing bowls placed on and around your body that creates healing vibrations. The actual sound and sound waves work on a cellular level to bring profound relaxation. Spa guests also have complimentary access to all the fitness classes. My favorite is aerial yoga, but I’m impressed with the overall uniqueness of what is offered. I’d love to go back and try the Aerial Sound Meditation, which sounds like a very relaxing 75 minutes spent cocooned in a silk hammock meditating with sound bowls in the background and the In-Trinity Experience that combines yoga, Pilates and martial arts. In addition to a wealth of massage, facial and body treatments, the Phoenician Spa also offers services like Tarot and astrology. It’s also the first resort spa to have an outpost of the wildly popular Drybar. Relax in a custom Italian chair, while listening to music or watching popular chick flicks while you get a blowout to ready you for a night on the town.
