The third Arizona My Pie location just opened in Gilbert December 3 and already there is big buzz! This is a fun and current concept in pizza that includes a fantastic established menu of pizza pies, or guests can branch out and create their own custom pizza pie. Salads, sides and My Pie’s famous chocolate chip cookies round out the Italian eatery’s menu. Where other build-your-own-pizza establishments are fast casual, My Pie is established as a fine casual restaurant.Vice President of Operations, Ryan Mitchell has seen to it that in the tradition of Crust, My Pie makes everything fresh, including the marinara and salad dressings (made fresh, in-house, daily). As a bonus, most of the menu items are made from traditional Sicilian recipes! It is very important to Mitchell to place My Pie locations in the heart of places where the restaurant can become a valuable member of the community. For example, the grand opening of My Pie in Gilbert benefitted Autism organization, A Broader Approach. My Pie also likes to get involved with little league team and other local organizations.The pizzas are all one size and are certainly big enough to share. During our recent grand opening media visit, we started our My Pie journey with a generous side of marinara sauce and a bounty of garlic knots, which are some of the finest in the Valley! Next, we noshed on a Caprese side dish that included soft pizza chips, and a Mediterranean salad, both of which were excellent. Our table also raved about the Health Nut salad with shaved carrots, almonds, tomatoes, all-natural chicken and sunflower seeds topped with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Next, we sampled some of the signature My Pie pizzas including the Pesto My Chicken, My Greek Pie, Traditional Cheese, Angry Bird, Spicy Butcher and the Very Vegan. If you or your kids are into cheese pizza, this is one of the best-a thin crust, hearty and tasty cheese and just a perfect amount of sauce. My personal favorite was the Angry Bird, a creative pizza with all-natural spicy chicken (but not too spicy), red onions, mozzarella, gorgonzola and a drizzle of ranch. The Greek Pie was also a nice surprise and boasted very light pizza sauce, garlic, parmesan, feta cheese, spinach, artichokes, roasted red peppers, red onions and kalamata olives with a balsamic glaze. Very tasty! If you would rather build your own My Pie, it’s easy! Choose your crust, sauce and cheese, then add your favorite proteins and toppings and you’re set! The price points on the pizzas are perfect and if you get the chance, don’t miss the wheat pizza crust for an extra “nutty” flavor. Other yummy entrees and noshes include calzones and pieninis, garlic knots and mamma’s meatballs. Be sure not to miss My Pie’s giant ooey, gooey chocolate chip cookies. They are fantastic.
