Terri Edwards at Pluma Designs Dec 9th, 2015 by Lynette Carrington Being on the cutting edge of hair design and exceptional customer care is the business of Terri Edwards of Pluma Designs in Scottsdale. But Terri has another passion – and it involves helping others. Recently she traveled to South Carolina, where she had previously lived and worked, for the 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon.“The salon I worked at is called Salon Salon of Charleston. It is in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina,” explains Terri. “My friend and owner of the salon is Rachael Geib. We worked together for over 10 years. Six years ago we decided to do a party for our clients while raising money for breast cancer research.”Terri continues, “Rachael lost an aunt to breast cancer and I have three aunts who are survivors of breast cancer, so it is something we feel passionate about. What we do is close the shop for a day, take everything out, set up tables and serve lunch. We have area businesses that donate the food, we have friends that cook the food and if you can’t come to us, we will deliver it to you. This was all done for donations. We also had raffle prizes and a silent auction. Again, all proceeds going to breast cancer research.” When the event first started, the salon event raised more than $1000. Most recently, the event has been raising $5,000 to $8,000 each year and the 2015 event raised $5,000.“We have a firefighter that dresses up in a pink uniform and we also have a guest of honor every year who is someone that is a survivor or that is going through the battle,” Terri states. “There was a client there named Patsy Palmer who goes every year for her mammogram and she is the person we dedicated the event in honor of so to speak. She went for her mammogram this year and not only was she diagnosed with breast cancer, but it is such an aggressive form it has spread to her bones. She is in for the fight of her life, literally, which again makes me honored to be part of an event every year to raise money for further research.”Terri finishes, “The event means a lot to me personally, not only because I have three aunts who are breast cancer survivors, but also because everyone is affected by cancer in one way or another. And this event brings a lot of people in the community together to raise awareness for a great cause.”To make an appointment to experience the warmth, wit and wisdom of master stylist Terri Edwards call 480‐492‐6494 or visit www.terriatpluma.com for additional information.
