Global Café - Made in Asia

Join Global Ties Arizona

and guest Richard Fincher

for a Conversation About Your Clothes

Do you consider how they are made and under what conditions?

97% of clothes and shoes sold in the United States are produced in Asia. This program will discuss three controversial topics: the global supply chain for garments, working conditions of factory employees, and ethical consumerism of Americans. Find out how your clothes are designed, outsourced, and sold at the local mall from Richard Fincher.

Richard Fincher is an Instructor of Asian Studies and Comparative Dispute Resolution for Cornell University, where he is Executive Director of the Asia Labor Arbitration Project. For four years, he served as a consultant to USAID in Hanoi, Vietnam, and later was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to teach at Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam. He also teaches labor law in China, Cambodia and Myanmar. Richard has visited many garment factories in Asia, and has worked with many western brands such as Nike, Gap, Puma, and Adidas. He is a loyal member of Global Ties Arizona.

This event is free of charge! Global Ties Arizona will provide the coffee, and there are TONS of great, authentic, made-in-house bagels and breakfasts available at New York Bagels and Bialys!

Weather permitting, we'll convene on the spacious patio. Free parking onsite at SkySong!
