2024 was among the busiest years for family-owned Burns Pest Elimination, who has been in business for over 40 years now. And in order to keep local homeowners and residents aware of what pests they are most likely to see in and around their homes, they’ve released a list of the top three pests of 2024.
“January and September are the times of year we see the number one pest,” said Dave Burns, Founder of Burns Pest Elimination.
While the experienced team of exterminators from Burns Pest Elimination can handle virtually any type of creepy crawly that may show up on a property, Burns said three pests were particularly common throughout Arizona in 2024.
- Bed Bugs
In 2024, the Burns team – which includes five highly trained, bed bug-sniffing K-9 units – protected 1,946 homes from bed bugs.
- Rodents
With 2,450 service calls, the Burns team was busy year-round with rodents. From bait traps, and live traps to long-term exclusion/trapping and snap traps, there are a variety of methods the team used to rid the community of these vermin.
- Termites
2,979 homes were treated for termites by Burns Pest Elimination in 2024, making them the #1 pest most widely seen in the state.
“It is important for home and business owners to know the signs of a termite infestation. This includes constructed mud tubes in and around the foundation of the home, the presence of flying or swarming termites, a sunken or rippling appearance of wallpaper or wall coverings, and the interior of wood hollowed out with dried mud or soil,” added Burns. “Other tell tale signs of a termite problem include spotting termite droppings, which look like piles of sawdust.
In addition to bed bugs, rodents and termites, Burns Pest Elimination also went on 1,166 bee-related calls and protected 888 homes and businesses from pigeons.
