New Original Series ‘Scottsdale’ Debuts on Streaming Service WatchVIM
By Michelle Glicksman | July 26, 2023
The new original series Scottsdale will debut on the Arizona-based streaming platform WatchVIM on Aug. 3.
Set against the picturesque landscapes of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the series aims to engage audiences while showcasing the diverse talents of the region. A red carpet grand premiere event for the scripted drama will be held at the Majestic Tempe Movie Theater from 8 – 11 p.m.
“We are proud to introduce Scottsdale as our inaugural original series. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating compelling and authentic stories while providing a platform for local talent,” says Anthony Newsome-Bawn, managing director at WatchVIM. “Our audience can expect a captivating narrative that resonates with the spirit of Arizona.”
Written by Anthony Bawn, Scottsdale draws inspiration from actual events rooted in Arizona’s history. The gripping storyline revolves around a wealthy desert family from Scottsdale embroiled in a scandalous drug war that threatens their prosperous business.
Many of the actors and actress in the series are from the Phoenix metropolitan area, including Kelice Weber from Phoenix, Carin Counihan from Surprise, Mark Whitis from Phoenix, and Adrianna Licitria from Scottsdale.
“Being part of Scottsdale has been an incredible journey,” says Counihan. “Bringing to life a story rooted in my hometown and collaborating with a team dedicated to authentic storytelling has been truly rewarding.”
Scottsdale is a collaborative venture with the Arizona Film Commission, reflecting the growing trend of film productions relocating from Los Angeles to Arizona. This aligns with WatchVIM’s broader vision of decentralizing film production and strengthening regional industries.
The series’ executive producers include Anthony Bawn, Gerrod Lucas, Jay A. Coleman, Reginald Wilson, Nathan Lee, and Donta Morrison. The official trailer for “Scottsdale” is now available for viewing on IMDb.
