Celebrate the Year of the Snake as Scottsdale Fashion Square partners with Phoenix Chinese Week to celebrate the Lunar New Year on Sat., Jan. 25 at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The event will include a series of traditional cultural performances to commemorate the start of the new year according to the phases of the moon. The festivities will take place between noon and 2 p.m. in the Palm Court area of the location, and include Lion and Dragon dances, live Chinese music, and more.

Stop by to see:

  • Dancers decked out in festive attire featuring vibrant shades of red, the color that represents good luck in Chinese culture;
  • Talented performers moving in synchronized rhythm while raising poles above their heads to bring an enormous dragon to “life;”
  • Playful antics of a costumed lion dancing and chasing away evil spirits, while bringing prosperity and good fortune to onlookers; and
  • Musicians in vibrant wardrobes adding the sights and sounds of Chinese instrumental and vocal traditions.
