Cole Barness is a professional videographer and photographer and the founder of Barness Visuals, a full-service production company specializing in events, branding, weddings, real estate, corporate content, music festivals, and more. Barness brings a creative and cinematic approach to every project.
Here, he talks about his company, his dream project, and his ideal weekend.
Tell us about what you do …
I create cinematic photo and video content for a wide range of clients—from brands and real estate agents to couples and event organizers. Whether it’s a highlight reel or a polished marketing piece, I help bring visions to life through storytelling and clean visuals.
What draws you to this industry?
Every project is different, which keeps the work fresh and creatively rewarding. I enjoy the challenge of adapting my style to each unique vision while still bringing my own artistic perspective.
Why both photography and videography?
They’re two sides of the same creative coin. Offering both allows me to better serve clients while expanding the way I tell stories visually.
How did you learn your craft?
Mostly through trial, error, and constantly pushing myself to improve. I treat every shoot as an opportunity to grow technically and creatively.
What’s the most difficult part of your job?
Helping people understand the full scope of what goes into creating quality content. From planning to editing, it’s a time-intensive process that involves way more than just pointing a camera.
When you’re not working, where can we find you?
Usually playing piano, writing music, or lifting weights. I’m big on balancing creativity with physical and mental health.
What inspires you most?
Looking back at my progress keeps me motivated. Seeing how far I’ve come pushes me to keep evolving both as a creative and business owner.
Dream project or person you’d love to work with …
I’d love to follow a music artist and produce a raw, behind-the-scenes doc that captures their life off stage. There’s something powerful about showing the human side of performers.
Favorite Scottsdale spots?
AJ’s on Pima for iced tea, then sneakybird for air-fried chicken tenders—it’s my ideal weekend combo.
