By Michelle Glicksman | March 13, 2023
Calling all filmmakers! FashFilmFete™, which launched in 2022, is accepting feature films, documentaries, short films, and fashion ads or music videos that celebrate fashion storytelling. Submissions will be accepted through March 31, 2023 (early deadline) or May 31, 2023 (late deadline), and the festival—which celebrates the history and future of fashion storytelling—will be held Sept. 23, 2023 at Phoenix Art Museum.
Submissions being accepted include:
- Feature (60 minutes or more, up to 2 hours)
- Documentary (45 minutes or more, up to 2 hours)
- Short (30-59 minutes)
- Fashion Ad/Music Video (less than 30 minutes)
All video files must be submitted in BOTH .mov and .mp4 formats, have a minimum resolution of 1920×1080, include a trailer and/or poster for their film, and be submitted through FilmFreeway. All entries must have been completed no earlier than three years prior to the submission date and appear in their original language (if not English, subtitles required).
The cost for entering a submission by the March 31 deadline ranges from $20-$45 and increases to $25-$55 for the late submission deadline of May 31.
“Our mission is to curate a selection of Hollywood, indie, experimental and documentary films to showcase the significance of fashion in filmmaking,” says FashFilmFete™ Founder Mignon Gould. “In addition to showcasing films that illustrate the role that fashion plays in helping tell a character’s story, it’s also very important to me that we provide a platform for historically unheard voices of underrepresented people in film and fashion, specifically people of color and women.”
Those selected for screening are then judged by an esteemed panel of fashion and film professionals for the opportunity to receive an award at the festival, which includes seven categories: Best Documentary, Best Short, Best Fashion Ad/Music Video, Best Student, Best Cinematography, Fashion Impact Award, and the Social Impact Award.
