It’s back!
Iconic chef Beau MacMillan’s legendary bartending competition, Bar Brawl, is returning after a several-year hiatus.
The competition debuted in 2015, during MacMillan’s time at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, kicking off at the resort’s Jade Bar. It became a popular weekly event, drawing packed crowds to watch as the Valley’s top bartenders went head-to-head in cocktail showdowns.
Now MacMillan is bringing it back with a twist. Every Sunday in August, Bar Brawl will take over Tell Your Friends, MacMillan’s newest locale in North Scottsdale. He will host the event along with The Americano’s Executive Chef Peter McQuaid and Tell Your Friends’ Beverage Director Ashley Cibor.
During each brawl, two of Phoenix’s top bartenders will go shaker-to-shaker for a panel of local and national celebrity judges—and the crowd. DJ Hybrid Thirty3 will keep the vibes high, and guests can purchase curated cocktails and elevated bar bites from a specialty menu to enjoy while watching the brawl.
The champion will be crowned during the finale event on Aug. 31.

- Aug. 10: Jason Hoeptner (Hotel Valley Ho) vs. Melissa Hejl (Trevor’s Liquor North)
- Aug. 17: Abby Kate Larson (The Italiano) vs. Moises Castro (Carry On)
- Aug. 24: Alex Denney (Pigtails Desert Ridge) vs. Matthew Crisp (Liquor Pig)
- Aug. 31: The top four contestants will compete for the championship belt, bragging rights, and a grand prize.
