Aug. 5 is National Oyster Day. If you’re looking to celebrate, here are three places that should be on your radar.
Buck & Rider
Local seafood restaurant Buck & Rider was just named one of the top 20 oyster houses in North America and Canada by Yelp. They feature varietals from top purveyors like Padden, Lilliwaup, Canoe Lagoon, Hollywood, Rappahannock, and Pangea. Each oyster is received in their kitchens within one to two days of harvest and every oyster is shucked to order. In addition to the raw bar offerings, Buck & Rider has its signature charbroiled option: the JT Broilers. These decadent broiled oysters are topped with a blend of butter, spinach, kale, bacon, garlic, shallots, white wine, and Parmesan.

Chula Seafood
This family-owned and -operated fish market, restaurant, and wholesale purveyor is celebrating with “two buck shuck” raw oysters. Much of the restaurant’s seafood arrives from the commercial docks in Point Loma on a refrigerated truck that runs a same-day route to the company’s warehouse in Scottsdale, delivering it to the restaurants from there. Other fish and seafood is sourced across the U.S. and around the globe.

Bluewater Grill
While not technically in Scottsdale—Bluewater Grill is in Phoenix—its worth the short drive for its fresh seafood and specials. In honor of National Oyster Day, this destination is offering half-dozen Oysters on the Half Shell for just $15 , which is a $7 savings.
