This local gem has been a neighborhood staple for more than 20 years. What do you think has been the secret to its staying power?
I was born and raised in Scottsdale and have been in the restaurant industry since I was 15 years old. I began as an expo at Nick’s Italian and spent nearly two decades learning every layer of the business before purchasing the Tatum and Shea location in 2022. In 2024, I reintroduced it as Brody’s Italian, retaining our longtime team while elevating the interiors, refining the menu, and expanding the wine and cocktail program. For me, hospitality has always been about building lasting relationships and creating a space where guests genuinely feel at home.
You’re known for your hands-on approach. What does a typical day look like for you at the restaurant?
During the cooler months when we are open for lunch, I typically get in around 10 a.m. to start the day. The earlier part of my day is focused on paperwork, planning, and connecting with both our team and our guests. I work through lunch service, then transition into the dinner shift, where you will usually find me behind the bar pouring cocktails, checking in on every table, and making sure the energy in the room feels just right. Being present and serving as the face of the brand is something I take a lot of pride in.
Guests know they can count on us for consistent quality and genuine hospitality. Many of our team members have been here for years, which creates a sense of familiarity and trust.

If someone is visiting for the first time, what dish or experience is a must?
For a first visit, I suggest the lasagna. We make the pasta in-house, and it comes out piping hot in its own saucer. From presentation to flavor, I would argue it is the best lasagna in town.
What’s your personal favorite dish and favorite drink at Brody’s?
My personal favorite is our Chicken Parmesan. What makes it unique is that it is not breaded, which allows the quality of the chicken, sauce, and cheese to really stand on their own without feeling too heavy. It is a lighter take on a classic and a dish I never get tired of.
As for a drink, I love a well-crafted martini made with ROXX Vodka. It is clean, smooth, and pairs perfectly with a great meal. I also enjoy exploring different bottles from our wine list, depending on the night.

What has been one of the most rewarding moments in your journey as a restaurateur?
The transition from Nick’s Italian to Brody’s Italian was a defining moment for me. Watching the Nick’s sign come down and seeing the Brody’s Italian sign go up was a major milestone. We officially celebrated our grand opening on my dad’s birthday, which made the moment even more special and meaningful.
When you’re not working, we’d find you …
On a golf course, exploring a great restaurant, traveling to a new city, or at a live sporting event. Sports have always been a big part of my life.
Your favorite song?
Anything by Justin Timberlake.
Favorite movie?
I am more of a live sports guy than a movie guy. If there is a game on, that is what I am tuning into.
Favorite places around Scottsdale?
I enjoy supporting other local restaurants, spending time outdoors during our beautiful weather months, and staying connected to the community that raised me. Scottsdale has an incredible energy and sense of pride that I am grateful to be part of.
One thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I may very well be one of the biggest Dallas Cowboys fans you will ever meet.
