Melanie Herschorn is known for helping attorneys and business owners become bestselling authors and get positioned as experts. She draws upon her background of over 20 years as a celebrity publicist, award-winning journalist in radio, print, and TV, as well as a clothing designer and entrepreneur, to support authors to step into through leadership and make an impact with their book. Her own award-winning book, Make a Big Impact with Your Book, is currently available.

Herschorn also runs the Scottsdale chapter of the women’s networking group Business & Bubbly.

She grew up in Canada, graduated from the University of Southern California, and now lives in Scottsdale with her husband, daughter, and son.

Here, we sat down to talk about business, networking, and her best business advice.

You do so much! Tell us about some of your ventures …

As a publisher and book marketing strategist, I help professionals write, publish, and promote books that are really foundational in growing their impact, income, and influence in their industry and community. When you have a book and know how to leverage it for marketing, speaking, media opportunities … the sky is the limit for how it can boost your business!

You also run the Scottsdale chapter of Business & Bubbly. Let’s talk about that! What is it?

I am so thrilled to be the chapter director of Scottsdale Business & Bubbly, and it has such an important guiding principle: that every woman deserves to be seen, heard, known, to belong, to have a seat at the table, and that what she brings to the table matters.

This group is all about collaboration and deep connection. We share strategies for business growth, have a variety of guest speakers, and always give our members opportunities to speak about their businesses, too.

To give you an example of how effective this model is, one of our members closed $12k in business from attending just one meeting!

Who can join?

Women only (sorry guys!). We believe there is something special that happens when women gather together and when they truly commit to being a part of community. So, if you are a woman in business who wants to connect, network, learn business growth tips, have a little bubbly and a whole lotta fun, then you’re invited!

Why are groups like this so important?

The mantra we share at each meeting comes from Business & Bubbly founder, Charity Majors, who says that when money gets in the hands of good women, great things happen, and that we aren’t meant to do business or life alone.

I couldn’t agree more. Being a business owner can be lonely, and as women, we are sometimes not great at asking for help. Being part of a community where you have like-minded women who truly become your friends makes the journey so much sweeter.

Favorite Scottsdale Business & Bubbly memory?

So many to choose from! I would have to say that my favorite memories are seeing the women’s faces as they are learning from guest speakers. So often there are tears and lightbulb moments all at the same time.

Your favorite brand of bubbly?

I’m more into mocktails and we are so lucky that Benefit Bar, a women-owned mobile bar and mixologist business, is our sponsor. So, each month, we get to sip on incredibly delicious fruity drinks!

When you need to relax, you …

I am a big nap aficionado. Sometimes a 20-minute power nap provides exactly the recalibration that we need. I also love going on walks around my neighborhood with friends and family.

Motto you live by?

I live by the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Best business advice?

Trust your intuition. If something is not sitting right with you, there is a reason. You may not know the reason but trust your inner guidance to steer you in the right direction.

Favorite movie?

I will always love The Wizard of Oz. It always feels like an event when I catch it on TV.

Favorite places around Scottsdale?

For shopping, I love Fashion Square and My Sister’s Closet. The Americano has great food, and the speakeasy Tell Your Friends is so much fun.
