Scottsdale Restaurants Among Those Helping to Raise Money for Maui

Several locales around the Valley—including in Scottsdale—have announced fundraisers to help the victims of the wildfire in Maui. Here’s where to help.

Scottsdale

Chula Seafood: Chula is hosting a raffle for a $500 gift card. There is a $5 minimum donation, and every additional $5 donated will be another entry (a $20 donation= 4 entries). All money from the raffle will be donated to the fundraiser. The raffle will begin on Aug. 21. Entries will be accepted in-store at any Chula location or online at www.chulaseafood.com.

Streets of New York: This local, family-owned and -operated pizzeria has pledged to donate $2,000 to the Hawaii Community Foundation. In addition, they will be donating a portion of the sales from their Hawaiian Pizzas (Canadian bacon and pineapple) sold through the end of August.

Koibito Poké:  From now until Sept. 1, a portion of the sales from Koibito’s Signature Bowls will be donated to the Hawaii Community Foundation for their Maui Strong Fund. The Maui Strong Fund is providing financial resources that can be deployed quickly, with a focus on rapid response and recovery from the devastating wildfires on Maui.

Raising Cane’s: On Aug. 17, all 750-plus locations of the restaurant will donate 15% of their profits to Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center (KHAKO), a Maui-based shelter located in Lahaina supporting those displaced by the devastating Maui wildfires. The funds will also be used in the rebuilding efforts of the shelter’s Westside Center, which was a 78-unit housing center that was completely lost in the fire.

Around the Valley

Crujente Tacos: This locale will donate 100% of the proceeds from its Pork Belly Tacos ($7) on Sun., Aug. 20 from noon-4 p.m. at its walk-up window (while supplies last).

Rucsoni’s American Kitchen: For the week of Aug. 21, Rusconi’s will donate a portion of the proceeds from its Pork Tenderloin entrée to the cause (open Tues.-Sun.).

Kaizen: Kaizen, which is located inside the Lawrence, will offer a $500 gift card as a raffle. Details are available on its website after Aug. 21. The raffle will run for a week, and all proceeds from it will be donated to the Maui fundraiser.

Original Breakfast House:  This locale is hosting a fundraiser on Aug. 26 and Aug. 27 with food specials, live music, a raffle, and more. Details will be posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page the week of Aug. 21.

Vecina: Vecina is offering a short rib barbacoa taco with sweet corn and Anaheim chilis ($20) from Thurs., Aug. 17 through Sun., Aug.20. All of the proceeds from this dish will be donated to the Maui fundraiser.
