Here’s What to Expect at Scottsdale’s Western Week Kick Off on Jan. 25

Scottsdale’e popular annual Western Week, a celebration held in Old Town Scottsdale that honors Scottsdale’s Western roots and Native American heritage through a series of historical events, educational engagements, family-friendly activities and entertainment, takes place from Sat., Jan. 25 through Sun., Feb. 2.

 

Here’s what to expect during the kick off day on Jan. 25:

Scottsdale Rodeo Museum | 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Step into the West at the Rodeo Museum and immerse yourself in the spirit of Western Week by viewing roping demonstrations and exploring rodeo artifacts. Kick back (or kick up your boots) with fun cowboy-style live music in the outdoor beer garden. Ready for a fun photo? Hop on the bull!

 

The following activities take place along Marshall Way Bridge:

Frybread Making Class | 11 a.m.

Frybread Makers Sasha and Celeste lead an interactive, hands-on class where you learn the secrets to crafting a delicious frybread. After cooking, enjoy four locally sourced dipping sauces including powdered sugar, honey, white bean spread, and prickly pear syrup. The class is led by The Frybread Lounge, the first and only Indigenous-owned restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale. The cost is $30 per person and pre-registration is required.

 

Custom Hats with Mavericks Hat Bar | 11 a.m.-3 p.m. 

Create your own one-of-a-kind custom hat with a wide selection of stylish embellishments, ribbons, and brandings. Whether looking to add a personal touch or design a bold Western statement, Mavericks Hat Bar has it all. Costs vary based on hat and décor selection. Drop by or RSVP to reserve space.

 

Entertainment by Gary Sprague, the Singing Cowboy | 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. 

Grab a photo with Gary and his trusty horse, Dusty, as they gallop along 5th Avenue and the Marshall Way Bridge, performing favorite songs.

 

Lasso lessons with Lasso Steve | Noon-2 p.m. 

Lasso Steve teaches guests how to rope and performs a head-turning roping demonstration. This fun, cowboy-style event is free; registration is not required.

 

Line Dancing and Live Music by Cowboy Up | Noon-3:00pm 

Learn from professional instructors who will guide you through fun step-by-step tutorials. Or kick back, relax, and enjoy watching the dancers and while listening to live music by Western band Cowboy Up. This event is free; registration is not required.

 

The rest of the event’s activities include Western movies, the Western Week Gold Palette ArtWalk, a Wyatt Earp presentation, the Pony Express Ride 2025, the Arizona Indian Festival, the 71st Annual Scottsdale Parada Del Sol Historic Parade and Trails End Festival, and more.
