Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream Offering Free Scoops During its Grand Opening

This Friday, Sept. 22, the new Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream is celebrating National Ice Cream Cone Day—and its grand opening—with a ceremonial free scoop of ice cream.

During the grand opening party, held from 8:30 a.m.-11 p.m., customers can receive a free scoop of ice cream in the flavor of their choice. Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega will serve a first ceremonial scoop in lieu of a ribbon-cutting.

“We’re excited to sweeten up Old Town Scottsdale with our premium treats and birthday cheer,” says Tom Medrano, founder of the locale.

Medrano was inspired to create Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream by the old-timey aesthetic and whimsy of Farrell’s, a chain of ice cream parlors popular in the 1970s and 1980s. It is now the only location in Maricopa County that offers HERSHEY’s brand ice cream (not affiliated with the chocolate company of the same name). There are also handmade ice cream cakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, Italian ices, soda floats, waffles, eclectic sundaes, and more. All ice cream is certified kosher, and the menu also includes vegan and gluten-free offerings.

During the grand opening event, customers will be encouraged to donate to Banner Children’s via the organization’s secure QR code. Medrano is a former Banner Health patient and intends to make regular donations throughout the year to the hospital through his new business.
