Arizona is in its prime! Beautiful weather summons residents outdoors and with the holiday season approaching, guests and loved ones will be flocking to town. One of the most “unique to Arizona” things to enjoy during the fall and winter is a tour around Cosanti Originals in Paradise Valley or Arcosanti in Mayer, just about an hour north of the valley. For residents and visitors alike, these tours provide an in-depth look into the longstanding history and significance of these sister properties.
Cosanti, tucked into a quiet PV neighborhood offers guided tours Monday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and 11:30 am. These donation-based tours are approximately 60 minutes, during which guests will have an opportunity to view live bronze pours and some of the most unique buildings on the property.
In-depth guided tours at Arcosanti are led by knowledgeable resident tour guides and offered multiple times per day most days of the year (aside from major holidays). During the tour, guest will learn about the rich 50-plus-year history of the project, why Arcosanti continues to influence and attract young architects, urban planners and designers from around the world and what Arcosanti continues to teach about sustainable architecture. The tour includes the iconic silt-cast and form-cast concrete structures, interior and exterior space, the bronze foundry and the ceramic studio.
Specialty tours that delve deeper in archives, architecture and sustainability are also available at Arcosanti by appointment. These private tours can be adapted for school field trips and other groups as well.
Guests can book a tour at Cosanti via cosanti.com/pages/visit and at Arcosanti via arcosanti.org/tours/.
