Hiking Opportunities in Scottsdale Provide Breathtaking Views and A Chance To Escape It All
Whether you are visiting or a local who loves hiking, Scottsdale is an excellent choice where you take in beautiful landscape, mountain views and escape the daily hustle and bustle of city life.
Camelback Mountain always beckons the avid hiker. There are two diverse routes to reach the 2,680-foot summit. Echo Canyon is a very popular with many hikers. Located on the western side of the mountain, this 1,400-foot trek is about one mile in length. Once you reach the top, you take in the breathtaking view with sweet serenity and peaceful silence.
On the east side of the mountain, the Cholla trail takes thrill-seekers on excellently maintained trail. Although not extreme, it can become rocky and quite steep. Approximately 1.3 miles in length, this trail is not recommended for young children or those afraid of heights.
Pinnacle Peak is another great trail for a hiking and jogging. Located near Desert Highlands, this trail is approximately 3.7 miles in length. Generally, it takes between one and three hours to reach the top. Pinnacle Peak is a well-maintained trail that gives you a fantastic workout without being overly strenuous. In addition, there is a ranger station if help or more information is needed. Sorry, but dogs aren’t allowed.
There are also areas to do shorter, more “urban” hikes or runs along the beautiful Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt towards the center of Scottsdale. The area features parks, small lakes and paths.
