There is no shortage of Mexican restaurants in North Scottsdale. But, if you're looking for something that is a departure from beans, cheese and tortillas, Blue Adobe Santa Fe Grille is the place you must visit.
Emitting a cool urban vive with Mexican flare, Blue Adobe Grille is typically pretty busy and tasting anything on their menu will reveal the reason why.
For starters, there is "The Original" Lobster Dip. The generous appetizer boasts meaty chunks of lobster meat sauteed with tasty hatch green chiles, fresh garlic, spinach and asiago and fontina cheeses. It is a slightly sweet bowl of heaven served with an assortment of freshly made tortilla chip wedges arranged like a star.
Chef Jose Cruz Leyva has created Blue Plates; a selection of southwestern entrees that are frequently served in the four corners region of the southwest. Some standout dishes are the Salmon BLT, an open-faced sopapilla with ancho-seared salmon, maple bacon and tomato relish. The flavor profile is uniquely southwestern but with an added element of flavor via the maple bacon and is certainly a departure from what you find in a traditional Mexican restaurant.
The Raspberry Chipotle Pork Tenderloin features Iowa pork tenderloin medallions on a plate painted with raspberry chipotle, a dollop of mango salsa served with a side of delectable red chili maple mashed potatoes. The combination of flavors and textures is culinary perfection.
Lobster Macaroni? Enjoy a grown up version of a kids' lunch classic utilizing penne pasta with green chile lobster swirled in with am asiago and fontina cheese sauce with a smattering of red pepper flakes and truffle oil. This is what "New Mexican" is all about-the unique combination of textures and unexpected flavors.
The Chorizo Stuffed Chicken entrée is literally stuffed. Hatch green chiles, fontina cheese and mild chorizo are tucked inside the chicken and then smothered with an amaretto mushroom cream sauce, sautéed vegetables and a green chile stuffed with chile mashed potatoes on the side. If you still have room, check out their signature cookie pie dessert or the unique variety of rich crème brulees.
Cocktails are a huge asset on the Blue Adobe menu and much thought went into the spirits and cocktails menu. In addition to the large selection of margaritas and specialty tequilas, there are some great signature drinks. The Peach Sangria is not to be missed. The light and refreshing drink features New Age white wine, Absolut peach vodka, peach schnapps and fresh fruit. The Skinny Dip Margarita features a 2-for-1 with Hornitos Reposado Tequila, agave nectar, a splash of fresh orange juice, a seven ounce Corona dunked upside down in the margarita and served in a signature southwest jar.
