Artist and gallery owner Michelle Micalizzi adopted her two Catahoula Leopard Mixes through Valley Dog Rescue in July of 2016. Thankfully, the pups mother wondered her way into Julie and Rick Hatch’s parking lot. The Hatch’s, owners of Phoenix Eagle Rider brought the pregnant pup to Valley Dog Rescue, where three days later she gave birth to nine amazing puppies. Micalizzi saw Hatch’s posts of the pups on Facebook. “I fell in love right away and knew I had to have one. When I met them, I had to have two. They have been a welcomed addition to my fur family!” Micalizzi, who is also the mom to of two adopted Cornish Rex cats says, “My studio really is Wild Kingdom now! Life is so much fuller with the four of them there while I paint and work.”  Micalizzi is creating a painting especially for the show the proceeds of which will be a 100% donation to Valley Dog Rescue. Additionally, 10 percent of the sales from all the art from this show will be donated to Valley Dog Rescue.

Valley Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue organization whose mission is to rescue dogs that have been abandoned, neglected, or otherwise placed in harm's way; to provide temporary housing for adoptable dogs, and to promote and encourage the responsible care of pets, especially spaying or neutering, micro-chipping and vaccination of dogs and puppies. The organization has more than 40 years of combined rescue experience and knowledge.

Public outreach involves providing resources to owners looking to re-home their dog due to financial hardships, this includes providing information on low-cost spay/neuters, posting their dog on our website, micro-chipping and encouraging them to come to our adoption events all the while staying in their original homes. Valley Dogs, Inc. is a proud recipient of the 12 Who Care Award.
