The Jennings Strouss Foundation’s Gateway to a Better Education Silent Auction will be held online from November 30 through December 11
The Jennings Strouss Foundation, a 501(c)(3), non-profit that exists to enhance the communities that it serves, will host its “Gateway to a Better Education Silent Auction” online at www.32auctions.com/jsfoundation beginning November 30. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Gateway Elementary School in East-Central inner city Phoenix.
Part of the Creighton Elementary School District, Gateway, located at 1100 N. 35th St., serves kindergarten through eighth grade students who come from one of the lowest income areas of Phoenix. Roughly 97 percent of Gateway’s students are eligible for free or reduced lunches. Ten percent of the student population is in special education programs, 27 percent are English language learners and 6 percent are considered homeless.
Funds raised through the Jennings Strouss Foundation’s premiere philanthropic event will enable Gateway Elementary to purchase technology and supplies to create a mobile research lab for classrooms, erect a shade structure on the school’s playground, and purchase a school bus to transport students to after school programs, such as sporting events.
The auction is sponsored by Red Devil Pizza and Alliance Beverage. Numerous other local businesses provided in-kind donations of items that will be up for auction, including a Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar gift certificate, tickets to a Phoenix Suns NBA Basketball game, wine tours, autographed sports memorabilia from the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns and Arizona Coyotes, a year’s membership to the Phoenix Zoo, gift baskets and more. The online auction will conclude at 3 p.m. on December 11.
