Head Brewmaster at Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery Is a Driving Force in Quality and Fun
Author: Lynette Carrington
Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery in Scottsdale just celebrated its one year anniversary in February and the fun never stops! With Head brewmaster Robert Rodriquez overseeing the beer quality and ensuring that everyone at the bar is receiving great service, you may not find another brewmaster quite like Rodriguez! Whether he’s serving up one of Two Brothers signature beers or educating a customer on the finer points of beer brewing, you will always come away with a greater knowledge after chatting with him.
Rodriguez first started working at Two Brothers late in 2015 and brought a plethora of experience with him.“I started a little over two years ago with Kokopelli Beer in Westminster, Colorado,” says Rodriguez. “That’s where I got my start – at least in the professional experience. I joined the Big Choice Brewing family to advance my career and knowledge.”As soon as Rodriguez saw the job posting for Two Brothers, he jumped at the chance to do something extra special. “That’s how I ended up with Two Brothers.”
“The first brewery was a start-up and I started working for them when they were doing construction still,” Rodriguez explains. He was able to get in on the ground floor and provide a lot of positive input along the way. “I combined past and present experience and techniques for quality control and cleanliness.”
In being front and center at the bar at Two Brothers, Rodriguez gets a good chance to establish relationships with the clients. “I was in yesterday doing some work with the yeast and I ended up sitting down and chatting with a couple of guys from Chicago that were in for some of the baseball games,” says Rodriguez. “Every day I’m sitting and talking to different people. There is one lady who I see frequently, and she drinks wine, but I still go and say ‘hi’ and chat with her when she’s here.” Rodriguez’s hospitality is unmistakable. He is certainly an asset to have working on the beer brewing process and a personable figure with whom customers can connect.
“I really like that Jason and Jim (Ebel ) – aren’t hands off, but they let us run the business here while staying in contact with them,” states Rodriguez. “They say, ‘We hired the management team because we trust you and know that you’ll do what is necessary and best for the company.’ It’s a different culture here and different laws here than in Chicago.” On occasion, Rodriguez gets to go to Chicago to touch base with the Two Brothers in Illinois.
