Community Turns Out for Annual Ryan House Breakfast



Eighth Annual Ryan House Community Breakfast Raised $337,242 with Honorary Chair Luis Gonzalez

Special Event to Support Ryan House Takes Place May 28

Nearly 1,100 guests and 60 volunteers joined Ryan House’s 8th Annual Community Breakfast at the Arizona Biltmore Resort on May 6 featuring Honorary Event Chair Luis Gonzalez, special assistant to the president and CEO of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The event raised $337,242 which directly supports Ryan House, the nonprofit organization that cares for Arizona’s children with life-limiting conditions and their families. In fact, it is only one of two establishments in the United States that provides children’s hospice services.

Gonzalez lent his support as honorary chair of the breakfast, and gave remarks during the event’s program about the importance of the Ryan House mission and how it serves families at the most difficult times. Lin Sue Cooney served as the event emcee, the official welcome was delivered by executive director of Ryan House, Alyssa Crockett and the family keynote was given by Nick and Nichole Kizer. Ryan Cottor, namesake for Ryan House gave the blessing with the sharp wit that has become his signature.

Ryan House is a safe and joyful place where kids can be kids and families can be families. During respite stays of up to 28 days per year, Ryan House provides normative childhood experiences, including swimming and sleepovers, to children whose medical conditions make that difficult and empowers children to life their best life. The new logo, featuring bright colors and heart-shaped leaves, also celebrates the loving care children and families receive as they navigate end-of-life journeys.

Ryan House is entirely funded by donations and has served more than 600 families since it began its operations more than five years ago. Donations brought in at the annual breakfast will support Ryan House in its efforts to serve families with a much-needed service.

Songs for Ryan House

At 5 p.m. Saturday, May 28, soprano, Rebecca Kaye Zanerand pianist, Lincoln Wright will perform a concert featuring hit Disney and Broadway show tunes from fan-favorite musicals including Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and more. A reception and silent auction will begin at 4:00pm and continue through intermission and after the show.

Full proceeds of the event will benefit the Ryan House. Ryan House is a home-like facility that embraces Arizona’s most medically fragile children and their families as they navigate life-limiting and end of life journeys. The event is generously sponsored by Christ the Lord Lutheran Church and will be held at the church located at 9205 E. Cave Creek Rd, Carefree.
