Gives Back to Community with Ring Sales
Barleens Arizona Opry Dinner Show has kicked off the holiday season with their series of Christmas shows! In all, the talented cast will perform 24 Christmas shows during December, including some matinees.
The two-hour show is geared to appeal to all members of the family with musical numbers ranging from Christmas classics like "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" to "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!" performed by Ryan Martin on his Grinch-green guitar.
Before the show, guests will dine on the Arizona Opry's famous chocolate cake (served before dinner in Barleens tradition) and a double entree of succulent slow-cooked roast beef, creamy Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with classic pan gravy, plus a tender grilled chicken breast on a bed of savory wild & long grain rice, steamed vegetable medley and whole wheat roll. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available.
The theatre has been decked out with poinsettias, twinkling lights and evergreens to get attendees in the holiday spirit. The gift shop is brimming with thoughtful gifts for the music lover and great stocking stuffers like flashing sparkle rings. The rings sell for just $3 and the entire proceeds go to support music education at the Avalon Charter School, a K-8 school in Apache Junction. According to Stacy Kaldahl, an administrator at the school, Barleens donates $3,000-4,000 per month during the Arizona Opry's season, which goes to support a variety of extracurricular activities that would otherwise be unaffordable for the school. "When someone buys one of these rings as a gift, it's like giving a gift twice—something for the recipient and something for the school," says Barbara Barleen, whose grandson, Nathan, attends the school.
