Arathi School of Dance Presents Magic in Movement October 15-16 at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts

Arathi School of Dance is presenting a special edition of “Magic in Movement” on October 15-16 at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The two-day festival brings together local and invited dancers in an annual mega dance production and has been a much sought-after event in the valley. It incorporates various forms of Indian classical dances including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathak and also colorful folk dances from various parts of India. The 35th year celebration of the school features internationally acclaimed artists from India and also many of the past and present students of the school. The event will also include ‘Navarasa Arathi’, a defining feature presentation of the nine emotions from the stories of Durga Devi (Shakti), by the students of Arathi School.

Kalashri Asha Gopal, founder/director of the Arathi School of Dance is a renowned dance teacher of Indian classical dance. A connoisseur of fine arts, Asha is a Phoenix cultural icon and has spent the last 35 years promoting Indian classical dances. A winner of various awards and accolades, she founded the dance school in 1981. The school is proud to have graduated 200 students, and Gopal recently secured a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

About Arathi School of Dance:

Established in 1981, Arathi School of Dance is celebrating its 35th year of teaching popular classical dance styles of India throughout Arizona and Las Vegas. Founder and Director Kalashri Asha Gopal received Guinness Book of World Records honors in August 2016 for having reached a milestone of graduating her 200th student.
