The Calvin Charles Gallery originally opened across the streetfrom its current location as Galerie L’Asietique and was showcasing Asian art and antiques. “Then, we moved to this property in 2002. Today, the Calvin Charles Gallery brings together an eclectic blend of international artists living and working in the USA and modern masters of Europe and Asia,” explains managing partner at Calvin Charles Gallery, Veronica Graffius, who is also president of the Scottsdale Gallery Association.
Indeed the clean, sleek lines and open feel of the gallery create an excellent space to showcase the many artists that are represented by Calvin Charles Gallery. “We do have artists who have stayed with us since the gallery opened such as Pascal, Jennyfer Stratman and Yayoi Joy Senda, and some are transitioning faces. We have been taking on some more modern and color pieces,” Graffius says.
As with most galleries in the Scottsdale Arts District, Calvin Charles Gallery has buyers from around the world. “We truly attract a worldwide audience. I would say 75 or 80 percent of our clientele is from out of town,” states Graffius. “I think we need to educate our locals to come in and shop in the galleries locally. It’s very important. As the president of the Scottsdale Gallery Association that is part of my job.”
